Welcome to my Web site!

I recall becoming interested in radio and anything electronic back in the early 1970's. At the age of 11 I had built my first crystal set. I can't remember how I got introduced to the Amateur Radio club, but after my first visit I was hooked! I remember my uncle, who was a TV repair engineer, taking the back of our TV cover off when there was a problem and inside was a new world in there ready to be explored. The 20 valves (tubes) were glowing away and I became very interested. By 1972 I was on the committee of the local radio club (Derby and District Amateur Radio Society) and I joined the Radio Society of Great Britain at 13 as A8731 in 1974. I eventually got licensed in 1983 operating on the VHF bands and achieved my full ticket in 1984 after a three and a half hour drive to Trusthorpe coast guard station in the UK to take my Morse test. Licensed as G4YOX in England was fun. My wife and I moved to Guernsey in 1990 as a career move and after we became settled down here in the island, I had more time for radio interests.

QSL information for GU4YOX is:
